KRUU-LP 100.1 FM is a solar-powered, open source, independent, non commercial, listener-supported, grassroots community low power radio station, broadcasting 24 hours/day and 7 days/week since September 30th, 2006 from Fairfield, Iowa. 99.7% of the programs at KRUU are produced by some 100 volunteer hosts who create 80 shows a week. Only one program is not produced by KRUU hosts.

Midwest Ambulance Service

Midwest Ambulance Service of Iowa, Inc. began meeting the needs of the Des Moines metropolitan area in August of 1984. Since its inception, Midwest Ambulance Service of Iowa has grown from three employees and two vehicles to many caring EMTs, Paramedics, and PRN employees as well as a fleet of over twenty vehicles company wide.

Jefferson County Health Center

Jefferson County Health Center, Iowa's oldest county hospital, was dedicated September 17, 1912, and opened October 2, 1912. A bond issue of twenty-five thousand dollars was voted to build the 3-story, 25-bed hospital. This was only the second time in the history of the world that rural people voted a tax on themselves to build a hospital. Private donations furnished and equipped it.
