FAIRfest '15 After-Hours Events & Venues

As if three free days of world-class national, regional and local musical acts weren't enough, FAIRfest organizers are pleased to announce another fabulous “After Hours” series this year following the main stage performances on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20. All without cover charge, in the FAIRfest open community tradition.

Venues include The Arbor, Burning Oak Restaurant and Pub, and Café Paradiso, located within two blocks of the main festival area. Plus a highly anticipated special Briggs Slab Stage performance Saturday night featuring Steve McLain and the original Jefferson County Green Band with Kevin Riley, Tim Carey and Eric Winheim following Cyril Neville's Royal Southern Brotherhood headlining set on the main stage. Cafe Paradiso will continue its legacy of after hour jams both nights.

Starting at 10pm on Friday, The Arbor will present five acts. Extravision is Ryan Stier. Dana T of Iowa City performed their original pop last year at FF14. Dagmar is a harmony-driven local indie band with Gemma Cohen and Miranda Mallard, touting a brand new record. Then it's the Olympics, another hot Iowa City group, offering up catchy riffs and an upbeat live show. MR NASTI's “universal music from the spirit realm” is anchored around Arbor owner Nicholas Naioti.

The Burning Oak presents The Riverdogs Friday at 10pm, roadhouse and dance hall blues, blended with Mississippi hill country and gospel-rooted rhythm and blues. Bonnie VanBuskirk is lead vocalist, Randy Walker on electric, acoustic, cigar box slide, and lap steel guitars, and William Clancy on bass and drum tracks.

Saturday, 10pm, it's another five acts at the Arbor Bar. Iowa soul meister Christopher the Conquered, aka Chris Ford, co-founder of Maximum Ames Records. The one and only electrifying Little Ruckus (no relation to Muddy Ruckus who perform on the Briggs Stage Friday night). Detroit's VBAK--rapper, teacher, lover. Waterloo's Dylan Sires and Neighbors, a brilliant pop band with panache to spare. Finally, darkwave, electronica, electropop, new wave, goth and syntho-pop with local favorites Control featuring Joey Delre and Joseph Mayfield.
